    GET INVOLVED

Become a volunteer

The Canadian Association of Singapore is run solely by volunteers. It is fueled by the immeasurable energy, enthusiasm, passion, dedication and time contributed by them. From the President and Executive Board all the way down to the person who contributes a few spare hours, all of these contributions help to define what we are - The Canadian Association of Singapore. Each and every contribution, whether large or small, is appreciated. Without our volunteers, there would be no Association.

Now here is your chance to contribute. We need help throughout the year with our events. So if you have some time to spare.... come on out and lend a hand. It's a great way to meet new people, enjoy some camaraderie, learn something new and have some fun.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Below, you'll find a list of some of the areas where you could help out:

Activities Committee

If you'd like to volunteer on an ad hoc basis depending on when you have some spare time, our Activities Chairperson is always looking for help. The Activities Committee organizes new and interesting events for our members such as Homecoming, Junk Cruise, Golf Trip To Malaysia, Christmas Cocktail and the Great Canadian Picnic.

If you would be interested in helping out in any way – from an ongoing role on the Committee to one-off opportunities at various events please contact the CAS Office  (Tel: 6734-5954).

Maple Leaf Times

Do you like to write? Do you love to proofread other people’s writing? Can you help out with finding advertising to go into each issue? As you can see there a wide variety of tasks go into publishing this magazine. There are many areas where you can contribute. If you'd like to help out, please contact Marie Tuxford , Editor – Maple Leaf Times.

Maple Leaf Ball Committee

The annual Maple Leaf Ball is our highlight ‘gala’ event of the year and also represents our major charity fund-raising effort. With the generosity of corporate and community supporters, the Association raises funds through a Silent Auction. Boy’s Town, World Vision Singapore, Straits Times Pocket Money Fund and Tabitha Foundation (Singapore) are some of the charities we have made financial contributions to in the past. You can help out with everything from decorations to entertainment to helping with the Silent Auction. This is your chance to be involved in the biggest event of the year and all your efforts go to support very worthy causes.

Family Activities Committee

Special activities for children for Halloween, Christmas and Easter and other possibilities for outings and activities are explored and planned by the Family Activities Committee. If you have ideas for family activities or have some time, energy and passion to share to help make the Association more family friendly please contact the CAS Office
(Tel: 6734-5954).

Canadian Christmas Teddy Bear Drive Committee

The goal of the Annual Canadian Christmas Teddy Bear Drive is to give every child in KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital a teddy bear during the festive season and to raise funds for the KK Health Endowment Fund. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve the community of Singapore. You can help out with everything from decorating and distributing the teddy bears to baking and hosting for the tea reception at the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. For more information please contact the CAS Office  (Tel: 6734-5954).

Office Support

Whether you have a couple of hours to spare a week or a month we can always use your help. We need volunteers to keep the CAS office updated and accessible to members and guests and to maintain many of the CAS programs we have in place such as Coffee Mornings, A Touch of Maple and The Sunshine Crew. If you like meeting people and have a knack for organizing there is a job for you. No experience required - training and coffee will be provided! For more information please contact the CAS Office  (Tel: 6734-5954).
